FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JVGR Special Issue is accepted

The Issue will Present Papers on Volcanic Eruption Mechanism

June 17, 2003 --

Hello Volcanologists!

Our proposal for a special volume of JVGR has now been officially
accepted, and we want to move forward as quickly as possible. You can
send manuscripts directly to me and I will see that they get out to
review and the editorial process without delay. We are actually very
close to the ambitious schedule we outlined in Nice, and I would like
to stay on that "fast track" to get the papers published ASAP. WE HAD
AGREED TO GET MANUSCRIPTS WRITTEN BY JULY 1, and that is only two
weeks away! Hopefully, you have been working on the papers while we
waited for official word from Elsevier, which has now arrived. If
you anticipate any problems meeting that schedule, please let me
know- perhaps I can help.

In any case, the sooner you get your papers in, the sooner I can
start on the overview paper. No need to wait for July if you have
them ready now.

NOTE- we are not limited to papers for which we already have
abstract- the ones we got in for the proposal demonstrated that we
have a worthwhile topic and it has been approved. We are not limed to
those papers, though, so if you have a new paper, by all means send
it in. Even if we stick with the 9 papers for which we have abstracts
already (plus overview paper), this will be a landmark volume! (All
first authors will get 25 complementary reprints of their papers, and
one complete copy of the entire volume, according to Elsevier.)

Some info documents (format, submission procedures, etc.) from
Elsevier are attached. If you need anything more, just let me know.

Cheers!

-Dork
